Rhythm and Rhyme BLOG

This week, in our Literacy we have been combining our musical and writing skills to explore, create and perform poetry. We looked at the work of local poet, Benjamin Zephaniah (linking our work to our topic theme of "Where We Are") and thought about how poems can be performed effectively.

Ben Zeph

Throughout the week, we have developed our understanding of beats and rhythms through counting and clapping the syllables in words and through using a metronome to help us keep a steady beat as we read a range of poems and raps.

It has been great fun and we are now going to use and apply these skills to write a perform some raps of our own.

Sounds like you have been working hard Year 3! Have you read Benjamin Zephaniah's poem Talking Turkeys? We thought it was quite funny :)
