Annie rehearsals are going well ...

We are hard at work rehearsing for Annie and things are going well.  Miss Harper has been great and has been helping us to learn our lines, songs and dances.  If you have not learnt all of your lines yet get practicing because we will be going script free very soon.  You can also find many of the songs (with lyrics to sing along to) by following the link below:

Thanks to all of the parents who have sent back their forms to inform us how many tickets you would ideally like for our show (we are looking forward to sharing it with you!)  Details about performance times will be issued shortly along with ticket allocations ...  Watch this space!

Keeping safe at Safeside

User Rating:  / 1

Last Friday year 6 went to Safeside on a safety awareness trip.

Whilst there we learnt all about how to keep ourselves safe and dangers around us.  The guides were hugely impressed by the safety knowledge of all of the children and commented on how unusual it is to meet children who are so well informed!  Well done year 6 and make sure that you apply all of your safety knowledge to keep yourselves safe.

Health Week and My Money Week

User Rating:  / 1

Following the half term holiday, we have come back to school and found ourselves in the middle of two special themed weeks.  Last week was health week and we took part in all sorts of fun activities including: mixing fruit cocktails; daily wake up, shake up sessions, tennis coaching, bikeability and lots more ...  It was a great week and enjoyed by all!

Be active

This week is My Money Week and we are taking part in all sorts of money themed activities including sketching, writing and maths.  We will also be pitching to the dragons in Dragon's Den and making our business enterprise products.

Finally, to finish our week off, we will be visiting SafeSide on Friday.  Don't forget your packed lunch!

Well done to all of year 6 for their dedication and hard work last week.  Our SATs tests are finished and we have lots to look forward to over the next few weeks!

Yesterday we finally revealed that our end of year show will be ... Annie!

We held auditions and think we have many potential stars in the making!  Today our lessons have an arty theme and the children are hard at work creating persepctive drawings and taking part in exciting DT workshops.

There's lots more to come over the next few weeks so keep checking the blog for updates.  Finally - make sure you all have a relaxing half term after all of your hard work.

With only 5 school days to go, SATs are getting really close!  Keep up all of the hard work you are putting in and remember to revise using the websites we have provided over the last few weeks.  Don't forget that breakfast club is starting on Tuesday 5th May which will give you the chance to come into school early for some games and breakfast with your friends.  If you haven't brought your reply slips back yet, please do so as soon as possible.

3 weeks to go ...

The sun is starting to shine and yet we are all still hard at work preparing for our SATs.  The children are responding really well to all of the revision and test practice we are putting in, with many of them attending booster sessions during the school day and even after school.  Thank you for your hard work and please keep it up for the next few weeks.  Last week we suggested some Maths websites to log onto at home, so this week here are some Literacy ideas:

We have had a fantastic first few days back at school and are so impressed with all of the excellent homework so many of you have completed during the holiday!  Thank you for working so hard and continuing to learn, but we hope you managed to relax and have some fun too!  SATs week starts on the 11th May so we have only a few weeks left to go.  Please continue to revise at home using the homework assignments which we give you and your CGP books.  There are lots of good websites to explore too.  Why not try some of the ones we have suggested below?

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter!  Make sure that you get plenty of rest over the break in preparation for all of the hard work we will have to do once we get back ... we will only have 4 school weeks until SATs!  Please also find the time to keep your learning going by completing the holiday homework tasks which you have been set.  Every little helps ...

We are all poets ...

This week in our Literacy lessons we have been reading some examples of war poetry and using these as inspiration to write our own.  In doing this we have learnt about different types of figarative language including:

We have been really impressed by the fantastic descriptive writing which this has generated and are really looking forward to reading your finished poems ...

Busy times in year 6

User Rating:  / 0

We have been busy over the last couple of weeks taking part in lots of interesting activities.  Last Thursday was World Book Day and we greatly admired all of the fantastic characters who filled our classrooms (there was even a boy in a dress!)  Year 6 enjoyed their paired reading with children from year 2 and even followed a recipe to bake some delicious bread!

On Monday we visited Arthur Terry to watch a fantastic performance of We Will Rock You.  We couldn't believe the amazing costumes and performances - it was just a shame we didn't get to see the end of the show.  Now, don't forget to polish off your red noses - Red Nose fever will hit Whitehouse Common tomorrow!
