Run 4 School - Get involved!

We are luck enough to be invited to take part in the Sutton Coldfield 'Run 4 School' this year, which is organised by Mr Boughton at Four Oaks Primary School. Other schools taking part are The Shrubbery and Little Sutton.

The aim is to raise sponsorship money which will be split between our school and the charity Norman Laud Foundation.

The event takes place on Sunday 9th July at 11am. We have had lots of entries already but we would love to have lots more - we are aiming for at least 100 (Four Oaks have got 300!). This is a very exciting opportunity to have fun, represent our school, get involved in the community and raise some money while we do! Staff will be attending too, so you can have a go at beating their race time!

It is very easy to register - you can do this online at www.run4school.co.uk and we will also have a stall at the School Summer Fayre on 1st July for any last minute sign-ups.The deadline for entering online has been extended to Friday 30th July.

The event is open to pupils, adults, family, friends, siblings - everyone! They don't even have to be a pupil here! You don't have to run the course - walking, jogging, skipping, hopping, or any other means is perfectly fine!

Your entry includes covering all the facilities on the day, water, snacks, a medal, a prize for schools with the most entries, and hopefully a t-shirt.

We are looking for sponsors to help with t-shirts, which Four Oaks have done previously and have been successful in doing this year also. It looks fantastic on the day to see all the entries from one school in special t-shirts. Please contact the school office if you are able to help us with this.

Your child should have brought home all the information you need, but please ask their teacher or the office if you require another copy.

Football tournament at Wyndley

The Y5 (B) football team took part in a WSAS tournament at Wyndley on Thursday afternoon. It was a league format with the winner going through to contend the semifinals against the winner of another groups. The team was unbeaten and didn't concede a single goal but didn't make it out of the group stages unfortunately, finishing second in the group.

However, the team had to play four games as another team was added at the last minute whilst the other three groups had 3 matches, we were the only mixed team, we had no substitutes so all the children played every moment of every match, and every child showed excellent manners throughout, shaking hands with opponents and saying thank you for taking them. They played brilliantly, working as a team and supporting one another throughout, with smiles on their faces and obviously enjoying themselves.

We are extremely proud of the team and will celebrate their success in assembly next week.

A special thank you to the parents who transported the team, provided refreshments and supported us throughout.

Year 5 Cricket Tournament

Well done to the year 5 team, who were amazing at the Wilson Stuart Cricket Tournament this week. They played skillfully and as a team, resulting in them making it to the final round; they came second overall.

Swimming Gala 2017

Once again we took a team of swimming superstars to the WSAS Swimming Gala, who really did us proud! The team showed fantastic dedication in the weeks leading up to the gala during extra sessions with our swimming instructor and many practising outside of school. On the day, they showed great sportsmanship and competed excellently - with a few 1st, 2nd and 3rd places being achieved! Well done to the other competing schools who also had some very strong teams!

Congratulations to our Boys' Team and Relay Team, who both finished in 3rd place against some tough competition!

We look forward to next year's!

Gymnastics Tournament

A huge well done to our fantastic Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Gymnastics team last week! We attended the Tournament at the GMAC in Birmingham, achieveing some excellent scores. All of the children worked incredibly hard in the lead up to the compeition and represented our school excellently. The children showed dedication and great sportsmanship - we're all very proud of them! We were very lucky to have some expert coaching from our after-school club teacher, which the children definitely enjoyed and made a big difference to their competitive preparation.

We would like to say a big thank you also to our reserves who trained along with the final competition team and were ready on stand by to step in at the last minute if we needed them!

Medals, Winner, Runner-Up, Third, Second, First, One

Our finishing places were:

Year 3/4 Team (out of 14 schools) - Vault 6th, Floor 8th, Overall 6th (it was so close that we were less than 1 point away from 4th place!)

Year 5/6 Team (out of 15 schools) - Vault 2nd, Floor 3rd, Overall 2nd (only half a point off 1st!)

We are looking forward to preparing for the Year 1/2 Competition in April!
