Junior Duke

Whitehouse Common Primary School offers children in Key Stage 2 the opportunity to complete the Junior Duke Award. Junior Duke is a life skills award that helps children build confidence, resilience and independence. Each level of the Award pushes the children to develop practical skills that have a huge positive impact on their lives.

To complete any level of the Junior Duke, each child must complete a selection of the challenges from the correct level. Once a child completes a selected task, he or she will be rewarded with ‘House Points’ and when all the challenges are complete, they will be awarded their certificate and badge at the next possible assembly. This public celebration gives children their moment of glory and encourages other children to complete their challenges even faster!

At Whitehouse Common the Junior Duke programme is as follows:

  • Year 3 Bronze Award
  • Year 4 Silver Award
  • Year 5 Gold Award
  • Year 6 Platinum Award

Throughout the levels, there are over 100 different, progressive challenges ranging from First Aid, eco, exercise, domestic challenges, budgeting, fixing punctures, building fires, baking, cooking, washing sheets, making presentations, knitting, litter-picking….all manner of things!
