Our play leaders are Year Six volunteers who each give their time one lunchtime a week to lead, encourage and support a small group of children from Reception to Year 4 in playing a range of interesting, immersive and inclusive playground activities. The play leaders work with a different year group each day.

The children who are selected to participate in the games organised will change each half term, enabling as many children as possible to take part in the ongoing activities. The play leaders have received training on how to deliver a range of games to their younger peers and are excellent role models in:

• being kind
• turn-taking
• collaborating
• encouraging others
• working as a team
• enjoying participating in team activities

The Play Leader scheme promotes children’s wellbeing, social skills and team work whilst increasing physical activity at lunchtimes. The play leaders scheme also encourages the Year Six children’s organisation, responsibility and communication skills.
