Consultation on admission arrangements

We are consulting on our planned admission arrangements for pupils applying for places in our school for the academic year beginning September 2026. The consultation will take place between Friday 13 December 2024 and close on Friday 24th January 2025.

This consultation is taking place in line with the requirements of the School Admission Code (2021) to consult on admissions arrangements either every seven years or when there are proposed changes to our arrangements. We are not proposing any changes.

If you would like to share your views on our admission arrangements, please do so by Friday 24th January 2025 by emailing enquiry@whitehousecommon.bham.sch.uk. After this date any views received will be shared with the Governing Board for their consideration.

During the consultation period you can view a copy of our proposed admissions arrangements.

Admissions

Please note that school is currently full in all years. If you would like to go on the waiting list, please visit this webpage and complete an application for change of school in-year form.

Starting school is an important step in the life of a child therefore we aim to try and make it a pleasurable and happy one.

Up to 60 children are admitted into our two reception classes. They come into school at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five. In Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, children are divided into two classes per year group.

The admissions procedures for the Reception classes operate in line with the Birmingham Local Authority’s Policy on priorities:

  • Children with statements of special educational needs, who have been identified as needing to attend schools with specific facilities to accommodate them.
  • Siblings who have brothers and sisters attending the school and who will still be in attendance at the time the sibling enters school.
  • Nearness of the child’s home to the school as measured by a straight line measurement to one fixed point in the school.

More information regarding school admissions can be found by looking at our school policy (on our policies page, linked below) and also by visiting the Birmingham City Council website.
