Squirrels

Welcome to Squirrels!

We are delighted to introduce our newly rebranded wrap‑around care provision: Squirrels. Formerly known as Happy Hometime Club (HHC), our provision has a long and proud history of supporting families within the school community.

Squirrels continues the legacy of high‑quality care first established when the club opened its doors back in October 1993. Over the years, the club has grown in both size and reputation, becoming a valued and trusted service for generations of families.

Today, Squirrels provides comprehensive, nurturing, and stimulating wrap‑around care for WHC pupils from Nursery through to Year 6. Our dedicated and experienced team create a safe, friendly, and engaging environment where children can relax, play, learn, and enjoy spending time with their peers.

Whether families require breakfast provision to support a smooth start to the day, or after‑school care that offers fun activities and social interaction, Squirrels is here to help.

At Squirrels, our values remain the same:

  • Warm, welcoming care
  • A child‑centred environment
  • Opportunities to play, explore, create, and unwind
  • Strong relationships with families and the school community

We look forward to continuing our long-standing tradition of supporting children and families—now proudly under our new name.

Opening Times

Squirrels opens bright and early each morning, offering children a complimentary breakfast along with a range of engaging activities to start their day positively.
Our before‑school sessions begin at 7:30am and run through to the start of the school day at 8:40am (or 9:00am for Nursery children).

In the afternoon, Squirrels After‑School Club welcomes children from:

  • 3:00pm – Nursery
  • 3:20pm – EYFS & KS1
  • 3:30pm – KS2

Families can choose from flexible session end times of 4:30pm, 5:30pm, or 6:00pm, depending on what best suits their needs.

Free Play and Organised Activities at Squirrels

At Squirrels, children enjoy a balanced mix of free play opportunities and organised activities. We stimulate curious minds with puzzles, board games, and jigsaws, while busy hands can get involved in construction challenges such as junk modelling, building sets, and Lego creations.

Creativity is at the heart of what we do. Children can take part in both themed and free‑choice craft sessions, as well as fun food‑based activities. All groups also have access to calm, quiet areas where they can unwind, read, or watch a film.

Whenever the weather allows, our outdoor spaces are always a popular choice—providing plenty of room to run, explore, and let off steam.

Squirrels Registration & Charging Policy

If you are interested in a place for your child at Squirrels Wrap‑Around Care, please contact the Squirrels Project Manager.

All bookings are made via our online booking platform, and parents/carers must complete a full registration form.

Parents/carers must read and agree to the Magic Booking Terms and Conditions when registering.
During registration, you will also be required to provide essential information including consent details, emergency contact numbers, medical information, and any other relevant data. Squirrels must be informed immediately of any changes to these details.

Fees are payable in advance via Magic Booking.
We accept childcare vouchers; however, Squirrels does not accept cash or cheques.

Staffing levels must be planned in advance according to expected numbers. Therefore, once sessions are booked, they are chargeable, regardless of attendance. If additional sessions are needed during a particular week, we will do our best to accommodate them, subject to availability.

There is no reduction for part‑session attendance, and if a child is collected after the agreed session end time, the full fee for the next session will be applied.

Penalty Clause

Late payment of fees places a disproportionate administrative burden on the Manager. Therefore, a late payment charge will be applied if fees are not paid on time, and your child’s place at the club may be withdrawn if payments remain outstanding.

If you have any questions about Squirrels Wrap‑Around Care, or need to discuss registration, your child’s place, bookings, or payments, please contact us using the details below.
